Backgammon (تخته‌ نرد  ),

Chess (شطرنج),

Cards (ورق)

Backgammon is a more recent adaptation of the Persian board game of Nard, whose history can be traced back nearly 5,000 years to archaeological discoveries of Jiroft culture, located in present-day Iran. Nard emerged between the 3rd and 6th century AD. One text credits Ardeshir 1 (r. 224–41), founder of the Sasanian dynasty, while another references Bozorgmehr, the vizier of Khosrow (r. 531–79) as the inventor of this game.

The history of Chess can be traced back nearly 1600 years to its earliest known predecessor, Chaturanga, in India. It then spread into Iran, where it was modified in terms of shapes and rules and developed into Shatranj. Following the Arab invasion of Persia, chess became popular with Muslims and was subsequently spread to Europe. Chess evolved roughly into its current form by about 1500 CE.

Playing Cards were likely invented during the Tang dynasty around the 9th century AD. The first cards may have been actual paper currency doubling as tools of gaming and the stakes being played for. Playing cards spread through the Asian continent around 11th century. There are numerous sizes and designs, including one used by police departments and governments, which features names, pictures, and other details of victims or missing persons for crimes that has not yet been resolved.
